Twinmusix chat with Andy.B from Almanacabout their new Album Kingslayer

How did you come up with your album cover for Kingslayer?

That was a idea I had several months ago when I talked to Victor after a show. I told him we should write more about historical things. I told him we should write about kings who got killed. So Victor said what should we name the album and I said Kingslayer. I showed Victor the cover and the whole band was amazed.

How do you decide what songs on your album are released as singles?

That is a normal process you have in the studio. We decided that Loosing my mind is the best way to show listener's what almanac dose.

How have your fans been reacting to your new song?

Very positive and some are surprised about style of the song. A lot of fans were not sure about what direction we were going in. They were surprised that even though it was still heavy but traditional it was Morden as well.

What is your song writing process?

All the songs are written by Victor either somewhere in Russia or Germany. We decided to go to the studio and write the new album in April. That was in December last year when we decided that. Then we booked the studio and he said ok I'll start writing the songs now. From that moment on you weren't able to hear anything from him from that moment. After 2 or 3 months he comes up and says here are the songs what do you think. And we arrange and rearrange the songs. It's up to me and David to write the lyrics.

If you could have any band play one of your songs which band would which song would it be and in your style or there's?

It would be interesting to have Korn play one of our songs either losing my mind hai to the king.

How do you choose what you are going to pay on tour?

It's a process we have in our practicing room. But if you are on tour and don't think fans are reacting you have to change It. To be honest I've never been a fan of writing 50 songs and only choosing 10 songs for the album. I would love to play every song but it's not possible.

How did you come up with your band name and logo?

That was Victor I meet Victor several years ago and he came up with the idea to form a new band. That's when he was part Rage. He asked me and I said ok we can do it no problem. Victor rang he and asked me for ideas and I said I have no idea I'm list in Spain. Then Victor came up with the name and I said is there any way we can change our name and he said no.

What's your favourite experience touring?

I've toured with almanac twice now, my favourite tour moment was sharing the stage with Bruce Dickinson that was one of the best things that happened to me in my life.

Do you have any crazy fan stories?

Yeh we have some from Almanac and Brainstorm, we have fans from Japan who follow Brainstorm the fans stand there and do nothing and I go went and asked do you want anything or can I sign anything and they said no we are just looking and they stand next to the bus and see us going in and out for hours and do nothing.

Do you have any random facts fans don't know about your band?

I think we are a open book sometimes they know things better then me for example last tour with Brainstorm I came out of the bus and they said hey good morning Andy you know it's you bass guitarist birthday today, I saw Tony many time's on the bus that morning but didn't know it was his birthday so I went back on the bus and said happy birthday.
