Twinmusix Chat With Olavi Mikkonen from Amon Amarth about there Australian tour and more
What can fans expect from your Australian tour?

We are going to play a lot of songs from the old days and think a lot deeper into our debut album as it's the 20th anniversary of that album.

Are you working on any new albums?

We haven't started working on any new albums yet,  but after the Australian tour I think we will start working on one.

There has been a lot of the debate about what genre of metal you are, what genre do you think Amon Amarth is?

Just a metal band

If you could have any band play one of your songs which band, which song and in your style or theirs?

Slayer is one of my favourite bands, Slayer playing twilight of the thunder god.

You have an Amon Amarth themed video game on the app store, what made you want to make your own game?

We we're sitting in a pub and one of the guys owned a game company, he went on about how much he loved old school gaming in the 80's, we were sitting around drinking and talking about cool games, out of nowhere she said how about we make a game about badass Vikings running around and throwing hammers. we had our songs in one of the versions in the background.

How did you come up with your music video for first kill?

The video director came up with the idea, we gave him the lyrics to the song and he came up with the story for it.

Would you ever consider releasing a live album or DVD?

We're working on a live DVD right now, it might not be officially announced yet I don't know.

Your lyrics refer to the viking myths and you often sing about the gods, do you believe in the gods you were singing about, are there any ties into paganism in your music?

I'm not a religious man at all, I don't believe in anything, but I do like the stories, and I can understand 1000 years ago that's people believed in stories like that, bit I don't enjoy reading about the stories.

What advice would you give to any up and coming musicians?

Always stick to your heart always say what's your gut feeling is telling you.

How has Amon Amarth changed over the past 25 years, do you feel your style have music has changed as your band members have changed?

Don't think we have changed too much to be honest, obviously we get older every year and more fragile, traditionally we are more heavy metal and that stuff be grew up with, my goal has always been to combine other musicians I like into my music.

Anything else you want to announce to your fans ?
