Twinmusix got to speak to Buster Bloodvessel from Bad Manners about their upcoming tour and more.
TM - Hi this is Amelia and Elizabeth from Twinmusix and we are here with Buster Bloodvessel from Bad Manners, Thank you for having this interview with us today we appreciate it.
BB - Thank you.
TM - We are excited for you to come to Australia, what can fans expect?
BB - I'm excited to come to Australia, it has been 50 years of bad manners. You can expect a party set from start to finish, it will make you dance. It has been designed that way and we have been working on it since Christmas. It is going down very well and we hope everyone is going to enjoy it.
TM - What can fans expect from your setlist?
BB - We will play all the classics, we don't play anything that was not a hit song, we will knock the socks off you.
TM - What's your favourite song to play live?
BB - My favourite song live is "Sally Brown".
TM - What was your favourite memory from coming to Australia last time?
BB - My favourite memory is to do with pies, your country produces better pies than ours. I am fascinated with the different varieties that you do over there and it's something that I enjoy. I also love the wildlife over in Australia too.
TM - Are you working on any new music?
BB - We are starting to work on a new album, which we hope to have out by the end of the year or next year. We still haven't got the time to record it because it takes us about a month to do the album and every month we have loads of shows, so it's not going to happen so easily.
TM - Do you Write on the road?
BB - No we don't, we are having fun. We just played all over Europe, and we did the Christmas British tour, which we always do, and it went down well. We got more people than normal and it was a big tour. The crowds seem to be getting younger, which is amazing since it's our 50th year and the crowds keep getting younger.
TM - What's your favourite Moment with your fans?
BB - I suppose our fans are special because we try and get them dancing in every circumstance and for that I am very proud of them, they dance as much as the band.
TM - Who was the first band or Artist you saw live?
BB - I think it was Hawkwind at Stonehenge festival and eventually, many years later I got to play with them at Glastonbury festival, which has nothing to do with Bad Manners.
TM - Did they inspire you to play?
BB - They asked me to come up and do a song or two, so I said I would, and they gave me a choice of various songs to do, and it was great fun. I went on stage, and the crowd enjoyed it, and it wasn't our crowd but they still enjoyed the deep performance. It wasn't their style, but they liked it.
TM - If you could have any band or Artist play one of your songs, what band or artist would it be, what song would it be, and would it be in your style or their style?
BB - I don't like it when I hear other people play Bad Manners songs because they don't do it as well. If there was somebody who would do it I would like somebody like the band "The Jam" to play something like "Inner London Violence". It is very Brass orientated which is not in our style, but I would like to hear their style of it.
TM - What is your favourite memory of watching someone else perform live?
BB - I was a young lad and I went down to the local Town Hall to watch "Prince Buster" play live and that was quite exciting for me. I was quite knocked out by that and that was one of the starting points for becoming a Ska Band myself.
TM - Did that inspire you to play music?
BB - I think that inspired me to want to do something. I wanted to be in a band and when I went to school I talked all my friends into learning an instrument and we started to do gigs. I said it would be better for us to do gigs than a school reunion.
TM - Is there anything else you want to say to your fans?
BB - Thank You for staying with us for so long it is quite an achievement, what we have done and what you have also done, we couldn't have done it without our fans. They are very much a part of us and we need them to always be there for us so we will always be there for them.
TM - Thank you for having this interview with us today we appreciate it.
BB - Thank you.
