ENFORCER INTERVIEW
Enforcer are a four piece band that were formed in 2004 in Arvika, a small town in Sweden. The members in Enforcer are Olof Wikstrand on Vocals and Guitar, Jonas Wikstrand on Drums, Tobias Lindkvist on Bass and Jonathan Nordwall on Guitars. With the release of their debut album "Into The Night" late 2008, Enforcer stated their opposition to the trend of over-produced, plastic-sounding albums with tons of tracks and triggered drums.
Enforcer wrote "Diamonds" in 2009 and went back to the studio with famous Swedish producer Rikard Lofgren at the end of the year. The third album of Enforcer "Death By Fire" came out in 2013 via their new label Nuclear Blast. Musically, "Death By Fire" follows the same way as its two predecessors.
Enforcer began to work on new songs for "From Beyond" directly after their headliner tour through Europe. The first official live-DVD by Enforcer "Live By Fire" is released in November 2015, including material from their gig in Tokyo during the 2013 tour and in addition a CD containing recordings from their show in Athens.
We got to speak to Olof Wikstrand about there upcoming album and more.
TM - What can fans expect from your new album Zenith?
OW - I think you can expect everything. We try to be as unpredictable as possible and incorporate a lot of different sounds that should be different for everyone who likes rock and metal.
TM - What was your writing and recording process for Zenith?
OW - It was pretty similar to all our other processes. We just tried to be more careful this time and more ambitious in whatever new project that you enjoyed yourself in and more time on this Album.
TM - when you say we can expect everything in this new album and you were incorporating a lot of new stuff into it for people who like rock and metal does that mean you will be differentiating from your normal sound or will there be Enforcer sound in there?
OW - The new album is based on the Enforcer sound, half the album is for the old fans. We decided to explore different ideas and sounds as well.
TM - Since 2005 you have played every single instrument in the band what made you settle on playing guitar and being the lead singer?
OW - Guitar was my main instrument so there was nothing strange about that. There was a time early on in the band in 2005 and I did everything, that is why I am listed as a drummer and bass player. Since we formed a real band I have been guitar and vocals.
TM - Can you tell us a tour story of being on the road?
OW - We have been on the road for ten years now and a lot happens when you go to different places, you meet new people especially when there are some liquids involved. I was playing a festival in Austria and I was wearing leather pants with nothing underneath, then they cracked open and showed my penis in front of thousands of people and I didn't notice. Later when I went for a signing session people were pointing and laughing at me.
TM - That is not very nice, I thought someone would have told you.
OW - It was ok, I just laughed.
TM - What's your favorite memory of watching a different band perform live?
OW - I have seen a lot on my childhood heroes over the years and had the chance to play with them. Watching bands you like from the stage is always a good experience.
TM - Who is your childhood Hero?
OW - Bands such as Motley Crue and Exodus.
TM - If you could have any bands play one of your songs which band would it be which song would it be and would it be in your style or their Style?
OW - Europe doing one of our songs from 1986 in their style.
TM - over the years you have switched between guitar brands that you use on stage, have you ever settled on a sound of a guitar as a musician?
OW - I like Fender Stratocaster the mud that's what I play at home and in the studio. They are very sensitive to the tone but that sensitivity could also be a weak spot when you were playing them live.
TM - Is there anything else you want to say to your fans?
OW - We will be there sometime it's a matter of where and when and check out our new album.
TM - Thank you for this interview today, and we would love to see you tour Australia soon.
