Twinmusix got to interview David from Heathen about their new album and more.

TM - This is Amelia and Elizabeth from Twinmusix and we are here with David from Heathen, thank you for having this interview with us today we appreciate it.

DD - Thank You for having me.

TM - You're bringing out your new album "Bleed the World: Live" What can fans expect?

DD - I think it is a great sounding record and there are good live performances by the band. It captures the live feel of what we do and it's pretty interesting to hear it back and hear the vibes over the headphones and speakers and it puts you at our concert.

TM - How did you record your live album?

DD - Our soundman was recording every night with Pro Tools and then we picked through a bunch of different shows to find the best versions of each song because the set was pretty much the same throughout the tour. We tried to lock in the same songs so we could be as tight as possible. I wanted to do some different songs on different nights but the rest of the band was like, nope we have the set right and the set was working, so we stayed with it so it was consistent.

TM - What is your favourite song to play live?

DD - A song off the Evolution of Chaos record called "Fade Away", it is a very Thrash and melodic song with a cool Hippy Vibe and a cool middle part. It is very interesting and it always does well live.

TM - How are the live songs different to the studio songs?

DD - We could get the crowd to interact with us and it gave us a live feel in our songs. We try to calculate that when we are writing certain songs so the audience can be a part of it. It is fun when we are feeding off the crowd and they are feeding off us.

TM - How did you come up with your Album cover and Who designed it?

DD - Travis Smith who has done the last two Heathen covers. I think it was Kragen's that came up with the idea. The concept is where we are declining in our civilisation, social media and how things are moving fast and we are taking this on the road and exacerbating all the energy that we have. I think it was sort of metaphoric that he was like "Bleed The World". We want to get out there and play and spread the word of Heathen and have some fun together and play some music and sing together.

TM - Can you share a memory from being on the road?

DD - We had a mini tour bus and a Polish driver, and our car overheated on the way to Italy and he shut the vehicle off and started pouring water into the radiator. I said you need to keep the motor running, as it is hot or you are going to blow a gasket. He looked at me and I said dude I know what I'm talking about. Then we got to Italy to do a show and we had a great show and we had a party afterwards with Jagermeister. Then we continued to party on the road and we were on the highway and the bus overheated again and we blew the head gasket. We were on the side of the road and everyone was plastered and then the cops came and the drummer invited them on the bus and then we had to pay a tow truck 300 Euros to tow us 3 miles to a place where we could park it. The next day I said OK what's happening and they opened up the radiator cap and it had Milky water on it, which means the oil mixed with the water, which means the head gasket blew. We had a show the next night with Exodus and we couldn't get there in time. Then we had headbangers open air the following night and we made it to that.

TM - Do you have any tour dates for Australia?

DD - Not yet because we have a new album that we are going to start recording in June. There are no big tours this year, but we have shows coming up so hopefully our new live album will create excitement.

TM - Is there anything else you want to say to your fans?

DD - Come and see us next time we come down.

TM - Thank you for having this interview with us today we appreciate it.

DD - Thank you.
