Hybrid Theory Review

Hybrid Theory is an American Linkin Park tribute band and they performed the Linkin Park classic songs that we know and love and we have grown up with. The blend of rock, metal, and hip-hop that was brought to the Metro theatre was epic and the stage was equally as impressive. They went the full nine yards and brought a three tiered stage and a full video wall. The drummer and DJ were on the top level, the keyboardist was on the middle level and singers and guitarists were on the bottom tier.

Aerials are a System of a Down tribute band and they brought a thrilling atmosphere in the metro and Covered legendary tracks. As they kicked off their set with "Toxicity" the throbbing bass lines and Buzzing Guitar beats brought moshing to the venue. As they continued their set with "I‐E‐A‐I‐A‐I‐O, Sugar, Forest, Hypnotize and Aerials" the Powerful breakdowns, roaring Drums and electrifying vocals was flowing through the room and the crowd was swaying in unison.

As Aerials finished off their set with an explosion of energy we got to listen to "B.Y.O.B. and Chop Suey!" and the experience was fun and each song was a banger. If you see their gigs pop up around Australia make sure you go and check them out. As the audience was buzzing on a high from the opening act we were waiting in anticipation for Hybrid Theory.

Hybrid Theory brought a perfectly encapsulating set to the metro theatre and it was everything we love about music and the ultimate tribute party. As the nostalgic vibes ran through our veins Hybrid Theory kicked off the set with "New Divide" and the instruments and vocals carried through the room and made the crowd rock out and sing.

Hybrid Theory continued with "Burn It Down and LOST IN THE ECHO" and the pumping beats kept the crowd moving. As the band continued with another sing along moment "Somewhere I Belong" the vocals and Lyrics were caught in the crowd's mind and the heavy riffs, combined with soulful vocals and impressive beats, made it a standout moment of the night.

Hybrid Theory had big shoes to fill as they continued with "Crawling, Lying from You, Points of Authority and Given Up" and the phenomenal hard hitting drum beats, Fast moving Guitar riffs and high-energy Bass lines had the crowd going from holding a drink to clapping and initiating a circle pit. As the bands stage presence continued on a high we got to watch two more epic songs "Breaking the Habit and Waiting for the End" as the DJ was jumping up and down and the band hit the vocal notes effortlessly we knew why this was such a fantastic show.

Hybrid Theory did a tribute to "Chester Bennington", the venue lights turned off and the crowd put their phones up in the air for "One More Light" and the venue lit up like the night sky. It was a touching tribute to "Chester Bennington" and it brought nostalgia and raw power to the fans.

The hits continued we got to watch Hybrid Theory belt out a meddley of "Leave Out All the Rest, Shadow of the Day and Iridescent" and a fan that was dressed up as Spiderman, crowd surfed through the venue. Next up was "In the End, Papercut, Numb, One Step Closer and Faint" and the vocals floated through the crowd and every track had perfect harmony. The mechanical striking of the Keyboard was stellar throughout the set.

Hybrid Theory finished off their set with "Bleed It Out" we were sad to see that the show was over and the band threw out their setlists, drumsticks and guitar picks into the audience. The production on this show was insane and the perfectly curated videos to go with the set was amazing. I cannot wait to see this epic show return to Australia one day.
