ME FIRST AND THE GIMME GIMMES

Me First and the Gimme Gimmes (MFGG) played an amazing show at the Metro theatre last night and they brought their A game. They brought an epic concoction of familiar hits that had a unique punk spin and it brought an infectious live and loud show that we got to rock out to.

The Skarntz are a punk band and they consist of The Red Emperah (Michael Corby) on Guitars and Vocals, Da Bass Comandah (Luke Armstrong) on Bass and Backups, Jar Jar Rydymshart (Scott Nagy) on Drums and Vocals and Lord Whippetdem (Lochy Rowe) on Keys and Backups. Last night this epic band opened up the night with an energetic set and songs including "Pyramid, Aldi, Captain and Conspiracy" as they ripped through their banger tracks. The head banging was in full force and the catchy melodies pumped through our veins as The Skarntz played "Keep left, Swiss, Styvos and Punk police". The catchy and funky keyboard lines sent you into a bop and it was a fun set and Lord Whippetdem wore green fishnets, a balaclava and an akubra hat on his head and black and white stripped shorts and it added a unique flair to the stage. As they continued with "Catfished, Soundboy and Get Out" the edgy guitar riffs and striking drum beats made you want to mosh.

The Dwarves are a Punk Rock band that was formed in Chicago and they hit the stage and put on one hell of a show as they kicked off their set with "Dominator, Voodoo, Let's Fuck and Demonica" and the fiery Bass guitar lines, towering vocals and vibrations from the guitar strings pulsed through our bodies. As the upbeat punk show continued with "Astro Boy, Speed Demon Like You Want, The Dwarves Are Still the Best Band Ever and Unrepentant" the catchy guitar riffs and drum beats kept us dancing to the beat of the music and the harmonies, stellar drums, bold instrumentation and rising and powerful choruses bounced off the walls and got us ready for the main act.

As the lights dimmed and the light show started the band Walked out on stage and a tremendous roar of excitement spread across the venue and everyone was ready to rock. As the greatest punk rock tribute band in the world kicked off their set with "Most People I Know, Jolene, Straight Up, Love Will Keep Us Together and Karma Chameleon" the roaring bass guitars, catchy melodies and Phenomenal upbeat drumming filled your soul with beats that made you dance.

As the band continued with the eclectic collection of hits including "Don't Cry for Me Argentina, (Ghost) Riders in the Sky, Sloop John B and Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard", the punchy and energetic set featured a brilliantly inspired rock sound and the band delivered an intense and steady beat with strong vocals.

As the high energy banter continued between band members, and the audience throughout the evening Spike pointed to a man on the barrier and said "You man, what's your name?" and they yelled out their name and Spike said "Guillermo that's not what I was expecting to hear. Ok I'll bite, how old are you man" and the fan said "27" and Spike said back "14, 14 years old man" Then CJ Ramone said "nice, F****** the bearded kid". Then Spike said "Guillermo what do you do for a living" and Guillermo said "A Office Job" and Spike said back "A zoologist a F******* zoologist at 14 years old". Then CJ said "Smart kid, one of those geniuses". Then Spike said "Yeah man a regular egghead" and asked, "Guillermo, do you think you are  better than us". Then CJ said "I think Guillermo thinks he's better than we are, hey Guillermo do you think you can do this" and they broke into the song "Dancing Queen" and everyone was laughing and having a fun and energetic experience that made you wish this night would never end.

As the band's enthusiasm lifted the roof they continued with "On the Road Again and Danny's Song" and the funky drum beats drifted across the room as Me First and the Gimme Gimmes continued with "Estos celos, Nobody Does It Better, Take Me Home Country Road and Mandy" and the crowd were infected with groovy bass lines that caused non-stop dancing. The incredibly fun covers and the energy continued as Me First and the Gimme Gimmes played "Good 4 u, All My Loving, Over the Rainbow and I Will Survive" and the energy in the room was making the experience one hell of a night as the band brought the massive sing-a-long hits.

As we were waiting for the encore the audience was buzzing with anticipation and the fans were chanting "Ten More Songs" and Me First and the Gimme Gimmes delivered "Before the Next Teardrop Falls, Rocket Man and End of the Road" to finish off this sensational night of fun.
