Today Twinmusix caught up with Miss May I’s Levi Benton to discuss their upcoming Australian tour 

What can fans expect from your Australian tour?

We haven't been there in a long time and there are a lot of songs that we having played on tour in year's. It's going to be a tough one because it's going to be one of the most diverse stylists we have had in a long time.

How did you come up with your band name?

There's not really a story behind it we just wanted something that sounded different. Looked different on flyers. A local band that stood out. I think someone said Miss May I and we thought that would be cool.

What's your favorite tour moment with your fans?

There's a fan we met who became a friend later. He came to the show and we were going to Disneyland at the same time so I got to hang out with him there. He was a fan going to my show that night and he happened to be going to Disneyland the same day and we went to the show and we are still friends now.

What's your favorite song to play on tour?

Hey mister and follow your feet

What insturments peddles dose the band use on stage?

B.J plays Ibanez, Justin plays Charvel and Ryan plays Jackson Basses and our drums are Tama and our symbols are Zildjian. Our rigs are Keller and so are our controllers.

What bands inspired you to write your music?

As I Lay Diying  and killswitch we just wanted to be like them a thrash metal band. There's been new inspiration science then it's great because it helps grow the band and the sound.

Who writes the music in the band?

We all write together BJ usually starts the song on guitar normally we start with riffs. We will go into the record with 20 + riffs and they can be 10 seconds or two minutes. Then we start adding drums and vocals and then we start jamming and that's how the songs usually start. Me and Ryan write the lyrics.

Do you have any crazy fan stories?

Me and BJ moved in with each other in our local home town that was a very small town. Once word got out where we lived it was a big deal we lived in those apartments. We had some merchandise shipped to our apartment and we lived in this complex. We wernt there when it got delivered people took our March. My little brothers were in school and took pictures of kids wearing these shirts and they said I love these new shirts and they were the shirts that were missing. Some fan took them and was selling them that they took from our appartment.

If you could have any band play one of your songs which band would it be which song and in your style or there's?

1975 play hey mister in there style

Do you prefer playing bigger or smaller venues?

I like both small ones I like the intermancey. But if I had to pick I like big venues I think our music is more made for them.

What's the weirdest venu you have ever played?

Paris on a boat. The whole venu was a boat so when you play you rock side to side. The whole crowd is. There was a part of the show where I made the crowd go to one side of the venu I said every one go to the left and everyone go to the right you could her the waves ceasing on the side of the boat while we were playing it was awesome.

Random fact about your band?

We normally only get two hotel rooms and everyone has to share a bed. Me and Justin always share a bed every night.
