We spoke to Jan-Ole Lamberti from Nailed To Obscurity about his new album and tour across Europe and the UK.
TM - You are doing a tour across the UK and Europe with Soilwork, Jinjer and Amporphis what can fans expect?
JL - We are doing a tour across the UK and Europe it will be great, it is kicking off on January 11th and we are really excited to release our new album on the same day.
TM - What can fans expect from your new album Black Frost?
JL - I think the fans can expect something like we always sounded like. I think we developed our sound into something darker and more atmospheric, so they can expect Nailed To Obscurity but something darker.
TM - What was your writing and recording process for Black Frost?
JL - We started writing the album a year ago, me and the other guitar player sit together and write the riffs, then we take the main structures and ideas into the rehearsal room, we work out the final songs together as a band which is really important for us because we get instant feedback from everyone. We don't live near each other we meet up every weekend and write our album.
TM - Who designed your album cover for Black Frost?
JL - Argentinian painter called Santiago Caruso. I have always liked his artwork and I thought it would be a perfect fit for us. We gave him the lyrics a recording and he said he will get right to work. Then we got the artwork back we were blown away, I can describe black frost to you like this, Frost comes from the sea when Frost builds up on the bottom of a ship, it is really cold and that Frost can get so heavy, that causes to ship to capsized so we transfer that frost on to a human being it represents the bird and that some people carry around.
TM - If you could have any band play one of your songs which band would it be which song and in your style or theirs?
JL - It is Tricky enough to find the band that we want to cover so it's pretty tricky to find a band that wants to cover us.
TM - Is there any band you want to collaborate with any artist who would it be and why?
JL - Not at the moment maybe in the future.
TM - What is your favourite memory from touring festivals?
JL - Bloodstock in the UK last year because it was our first ever UK tour and we played the main stage. We also played Metal Hammer paradise, we had a big slot on the main stage for one and a half hours but the main tour we were excited about was being main support for dark tranquility.
TM - That is awesome that you got such a big slot, congratulations.
TM - Anything else you want to announce to your fans?
JL - I hope you enjoy your new album and I hope you can come to Australia as soon as possible.
TM - Thank you for the interview today, I really appreciate it
