NILE REVIEW

Death Metal Band Nile with support bands Writhing, Carnal Viscera and Altars, played a sold out show at the Crowbar on Sunday night and you knew you were going to get a show where the Moshpit would open up and the growls would fill the venue.

First to hit the stage was Death Metal Band Writhing from Melbourne that consists of Pat on Vocals, Joel on Guitar, Jacko on Bass and Adam on Drums and they opened up the night with "Monolithic Extinction, That Which Becomes Death, Of Earth & Flesh and Flesh possession". The solid bass lines and chunky riffs filled the room with excitement. As Writhing continued with "Unhallowed Realms, Void of Derision and Uncreation", the well oiled heavy vocals and energy was paramount and the masterful fiery performance, revved up the crowd and the moshing got fierce and they got us ready for the next onslaught of bands.

Next to hit the stage was Carnal Viscera from New South Wales, the band consists of Tom on Voacls, Alannah on Guitar, Chris on Guitar, James on Bass and Luke on Drums and they brought sizzling Death metal with fiery guitar melodies and huge bass guitar riffs to the Crowbar. As they kicked off the set with "Necrotic Molestation, Fetal Abduction, Cocaine Cannibals and Wrong Night to Pull Over", the upbeat drum beats were fierce and the technically furious performance was on point. As Carnal Viscera continued we got to hear them smash out "Amalgamated Cluster Corpse, Ahhhh! Zombi and The Saw", the Loud vocals and blistering guitars got the metal crowd even more pumped up.

Death Metal band Altars from Melbourne were up next and the band consists of, Lewis Fischer on Guitars, Brendan Sloan on Bass and Vocals and Dan Nahum on Drums. As Altars brought their massive riffs and powerful vocals to the stage they kicked off their set with "Slouching Toward Gomorrah, Perverse Entity, Luminous Jar and Paramnesia I: Descent". As Altars continued with "Black Light Upon Us, Paramnesia II: Gibbous and Paramnesia III: Ouroboros", the sharp lyrics kicked ass and the band impressed the fans with energetic drumming and guitar riffs that brought earth shaking fury to the venue.

Writing, Carnal Viscera and Altars set us into a frenzy and got us ready for the destruction that Nile was about to release on the Crowbar.

Next up was the one and only Nile consists of Karl Sanders on Guitar and Vocals, George Kollias on Drums, Brian Kingsland on Guitar and Vocals, Zach Jeter on Guitar and Vocals and Dan Vadim Von on Bass and Vocals. As the crowd packed in and The lights dimmed, George started drumming, and then Nile hit the stage and joined in. Nile Kicked off their set with "Sacrifice Unto Sebek, Defiling the Gates of Ishtar and To Strike With Secret Fang" and it was a roaring start to a spectacular night.

The crowd was supercharged as Nile continued with "Kafir!, Call to Destruction, Vile Nilotic Rites and Stelae of Vultures" and the super-fast guitar riffs, heavy bass lines and sharp chords were quick enough to break the sound barrier. As the powerful Metal vocals opened up the mosh pit and the thundering drums created a thrilling atmosphere the set continued with "In the Name of Amun, Lashed to the Slave Stick, Sarcophagus and 4th Arra of Dagon".

The amount of passion Nile brought to the stage was next level as they played songs including "Long Shadows of Dread, Chapter for Not Being Hung Upside Down on a Stake in the Underworld and Made to Eat Feces by the Four Apes and Black Seeds of Vengeance". As Nile played, the technical complexity of the guitar riffs accompanied by the harsh drum beats and steady bass lines brought raw brutality and the lyrics were storming across the venue.

Every musician from Writhing, Carnal Viscera, Altars and Nile delivered phenomenally and every musician brought their own technically refined performance during their sets. It was a fantastic show that we would love to relive again.

Nile proved that they are one of the best Death metal bands and showed us that metal is truly alive on an international scale and they gave us a legendary show that will be engrained in our DNA forever.
