WE THE KINGS, BOYS LIKE GIRLS AND SIMPLE PLAN REVIEW
We The Kings, Boys Like Girls and Simple Plan played at the Horden Pavilion on the weekend and it was the best throwback of all time. I was a massive fan of Simple Plan growing up and I used to listen to their albums on repeat.
We The Kings kicked off their set with "Skyway Avenue" and it was a fun, catchy and upbeat song. They continued with songs including "She Takes Me High, When We Were Young and I Feel Alive" and these vibrant pop melodies filled our souls with happiness. Then Travis Clark got into the crowd to shoot a video clip with his fans and we can't wait to see it. As We The Kings continued they did a Cover of the iconic song "Wonderwall by Oasis" and the crowd was singing every lyric back.
As We The Kings played their last song of the night, it needed no introduction, it has become one of those songs that you know from the first few notes and we were excited to hear it, their anthem in the pop-punk scene, “Check Yes, Juliet”. We were sad to see them leave the stage but we were equally excited for the next two acts.
Next up were boys like girls and they kicked off the set with "Sunday at Foxwoods and Love Drunk" and the band’s stage presence transformed the crowd’s energy, The mosh pit was in full swing and we couldn't wait for the next songs.
As Boys Like Girls continued their set with hits including " Blood And Sugar, She Got a Boyfriend Now, Language and Heels Over Hard" the peppy lead guitar lines and driving drum beats filled the venue and created a rich and energetic atmosphere. As the set was brought to an end by two of the band's best songs "The Great Escape and Love Drunk" Martin's vocal performance was vibrant and lifted by the band's instrumental and everyone was ecstatic for the main act.
The band we had been waiting for was up next, the one and only Simple Plan and to say everyone was excited was an understatement. Simple Plan delivered their best hits and they kicked off their set with "I'd do Anything, Shut Up and Jump". Pierre Bouvier's showmanship was of the highest quality as he interacted with the crowd as soon as he hit the stage. "Addicted and Welcome To My Life" were up next and these songs captivated the audience with the clarity of the lyrics and how they reflected on life experiences.
Next up was the song "Iconic" with Simple Plan and Jax performing. This song was upbeat and exciting with feel-good dance party vibes, fast paced guitar riffs, catchy harmonies and sing-along choruses. Simple Plan continued with their nostalgic hits including " Summer Paradise, Astronaut and Million Pictures Of You". As the band played the "Scooby Doo" song they brought up "Scoobys" that were dressed up in the crowd, including a kid who was excited to be up there.
Simple Plan left three of their best songs for last " Jet Lag, I'm Just a Kid and Perfect". They also did a Cover of "Am I Ever Going To See Your Face Again by The Angels" which the crowd sang back with "No Way, Get Fucked, Fuck off" in true Aussie style.
Three epic bands, We The Kings, Boys Like Girls and Simple Plan played at the Horden and it was a magical experience. It brought the fans together and we got to share and experience these moments with fans who all loved the same music.
