They Might Be Giants
Last night The Might Be Giants (TMBG) played at the Enmore Theatre and they played two full epic sets. The sets represented the band's entire career, from early hits, to brand new favourites and they played their album Flood in its entirety, to a sold out venue of fans that were ecstatic to see them.
As They Might Be Giants played their classic album Flood along with their Notorious hits, the catchy tones and deep harmonies filled the room and we were excited for this set to be kicked off with 'Istanbul (Not Constantinople) originally by 'The Four Lads'. As TMBG continued with their fun and engaging set they played, "When Will You Die", "Moonbeam Rays", "Someone Keeps Moving My Chair", "The Mesopotamians" and "Snail Shell" and the synth upright bass was Rocking, the accordion was on full blast and the bright rhythm guitars, Funky beats and expressive vocals engaged the fans. As we got to the end of the fourth song, They Might Be Giants talked to the crowd and had the fans laughing at their jokes. Then TMBG called the photographers up on stage to come and take photos and as we were one of the outlets that got called up, it was a surreal experience that we were grateful for.
As TMBG continued with songs including "Twisting", "Your Racist Friend", "Lie Still, Little Bottle", "Let Me Tell You About My Operation" and "Where Your Eyes Don't Go" the amazing chord progressions, great string harmonies, pop hooks and fantastic melodies showed the bands dynamic ranges that the band could reach. As you looked into the crowd the excitement was paramount and the lyrics of every song was echoing through the venue from the fans and the band. As we neared to the end of the first set we got to rock out to "Brontosaurus", "Women & Men", "Stellub", "Damn Good Times" and "Birdhouse in Your Soul" and we were excited to have the next set soon. TMBG played Tubthumping by Chumbawamba as their last song of the first set and we got knocked down by how amazing the first half of their set was and we got up again for an epic part two.
The lights went down and a videos and music of "Hearing Aid" and "Sapphire Bullets of Pure Love" started playing. As TMBG walked out on stage we kicked off into the delightful second set, with hits "Particle Man", "Minimum Wage", "Letterbox" and "Ana Ng" and we were fired up. The heavy electric dark guitar of Rock and roll hit the soul of everyone watching.
As TMBG continued with "She's an Angel", "Synopsis for Latecomers" and "Lucky Ball and Chain" the hard-hitting drums, strong powerful vocals and airy, and smooth saxophone made us buzz on a high. The hits were rolling and they continued with songs including "Everything Is Catching on Fire", "Fingertips", "Hey Now Everybody Now" and "I Found a New Friend" which made us twirl around in joy.

TMBG walked off stage and the crowd cheered for an Encore, as they came back on stage everyone was psyched and the band continued to play "Theme From Flood" and "Dead", and then they walked off stage again. The set wasn't over yet though, TMBG kept us on our toes as they came on for a second Encore, as they played hits "Please Pass the Milk, Please", "What’s That Blue Thing Doing Here?", "The Day That Love Came to Play" and "I Walk Along Darkened Corridors" we were grateful for a set with fifty-five songs. TMBG put on one of the most energetic shows I have seen in a while and the fans of every age made it a special night. If you haven't seen them live yet, go and check them out.
