WITHIN TEMPTATION
Within Temptation were formed in 1996 y Robert Westerholt and Sharon den Adel. Jeroen van Veen, Michiel Papenhove, Dennis Leeflang and Martijn Westerholt joined the band. In less than two months, they had been offered various contracts for a record deal. WT decided to sign with DSFA Records and got a new drummer, Ivar de Graaf.
The first album, "Enter", was released in April 1997. At the end of 1997, Ivar decided to leave the band because he wanted to put more time into other things than Within Tempation. Ivar was replaced by Ciro Palma. In 1998 EP called "The Dance". In 2000 the new album, Mother Earth was released.
In 2002 the single Ice Queen reached the number 1 position in may charts, both in The Netherlands and in Belgium. The Album Mother Earth reached the Platinum status in The Netherlands and the Gold status in Belgium.
In 2004 Within Temptation released 'The Silent Force' and toured extenslivy between 2004 and 2007. In 2007 Within Temptation Released 'The Heart of Everything'. In 2008 Release: 'Black Symphony' was released. To be followed by Paradise (What About Us?)' ft. Tarja in 2013 and Hydra in 2014.
We got to speak to WITHIN TEMPTATION Sharon den Adel about her new album Resist and more.
TM - What can fans expect from your new Album Resist?
WT - For this album we changed our music. We took it in a new direction this time a little bit less symphonic but there was still be symphonic elements going on in the background but the changes bigger than we had with the previous album.
TM - What was your writing and recording process for Resist?
WT - One of us always starts writing the song and then we all add our own parts and layers on top of each other until we have a final song. We all like to find songs that inspires us, helps us write more songs and we find the latest songs that we think a cool and try and make it work.
TM - Who designed your album cover and what was the concept behind Resist?
WT - Our album cover was designed by a a well-known artist, we ask them to design an album cover we saw the painting and thought that before it was the perfect album cover because it said everything we wanted to portray.
TM - Your new song Ratio Banner is a futuristic video and has a war battle scene in it what made you want to produce this video and how have fans respond?
WT - The fans have responded very well to the new Video, we based the video of Our Song and sat down with the producer and talked about what we wanted to do in the video clip we were inspired by the Russian Cold War and politics.
TM - You played loud Park Japan how is this Crowd different to others crowds?
WT - It is is very special the crowd is always very respectful compared to any other festival I have been to. It is always a pleasure to play at loud Park Japan and I love going back there.
TM - Japan is definitely on my bucket list, hopefully i get to go to a music festival there. Unfortunately they canceled Loud Park this year, hopefully it will come back next year. They added Download Japan though.
WT - Definitely, Japan is fantastic. We would love to play there again.
TM - If you could have any band play one of your songs which band would it be which song and in your style or theirs?
WT - Deep Purple playing one of our songs of their choice in their style.
TM - That would be awesome! I love Deep Purple. They were amazing at Hellfest two years ago.
TM - If you could collaborate with any artist who would it be and why?
WT - Electric Light Orchestra as they were a big influence when I was growing up.
TM - Is there anything else you want to announce to your fans?
WT - Check out our new album when it comes out and hopefully we will come to Australia and Japan soon.
