Yngwie Malmsteen Review
Last night Sydney was thrilled to see the Swedish thunder god guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen as he is one of the world's biggest influences in shred guitar.
First up to hit the stage was Ragdoll from Australia and they rocked out with an epic line up of musicians including Ryan on Lead Vocals and Lead Bass, Cam on Lead Drums and Percussion, Leon on Lead Guitar and Lead Backing Vocals.
As Ragdoll kicked off their set with "All I Want, Rewind Your Mind, Love On The Run and Rust" the melodies and tempos were lively and exciting and the bass guitar lines and powerful drums created a thrilling atmosphere in the venue. The sharp chords supercharged the fans for Yngwie Malmsteen.
Yngwie Malmsteen came on stage and the high stack of Marshall amps created the perfect backdrop. The set kicked off with 'Rising Force' we felt the raw power of Yngwie's guitar and the mosh pit was rocking out while Yngwie was flicking picks into the crowd.
As the set continued with hits including "Like an Angel, Relentless, Wolves at the Door and Si Vis Pacem Parabellum", Yngwie didn't miss a single guitar note and the killer kick and snare beats filled the room with rhythm. The Powerful guitar riffs were insane and the phenomenal Rising Force kept coming with songs including "Magic City and Far Beyond The Sun". An extravagant version of "Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen" was up next and the crowd was headbanging and throwing their metal horns in the air.
Next up was "Seventh Sign, Toccata and Evil Eye" and the vigorous vocals and killer guitar were Loud and heavy with dense bass lines. Yngwie played Smoke on the Water by Deep Purple and the elemental lightning strike of a performance proved the band could explore different ways of performing a song in a fresh and memorable way.
The show finished with 'Black Star' an instrumental taken from the debut Yngwie Malmsteen album 'Rising Force' with a long guitar solo. It was an epic trip and we were beyond excited to hear Malmsteen unload some of his neoclassical hits.
