ZEAL AND ARDOR REVIEW
Zeal and Ardor played at the crowbar last night to a full house. As you walked around the venue everyone was buzzing with excitement and was excited to see Zeal and Ardor.
Dispossessed kicked off the set with their glowing vocals and mad riffs, it was definitely a great way to kick off the night. Dispossessed are an Australian metal band. They sing in a mixture of English and Gumbaynggirr. Dispossessed are known as "the most uncompromising, unapologetic and important band in Australia."
Zeal & Ardor were up next, as fans eagerly awaited you could see the excitement on everyone's face. Zeal & Ardor are a avant-garde metal band started and led by Manuel Gagneux, a Swiss-American musician. The band mixes sounds of negro spirituals with black metal.
The lights dimmed and Zeal & Ardor walked on stage the crowd cheered and Zeal & Ardor kicked off their set with Sacrilegium I. Zeal & Ardor played a extensive list of songs including "In Ashes, Servants, Come On Down, Blood In The River, Row Row and You Ain't Coming Back."
Zeal & Ardor then stopped and spoke to their fans, they said "We don't talk much, we are going to play songs for you is that ok with you" as the crowd cheers loudly Zeal & Ardor continue on with their set. The next set of songs were "Waste, Ship On Fire, Stranger Fruit, Grave Diggers Chant, Fire On Motions, Built On Ashes, We Can't Be Found and Don't You Dare".
Zeal & Ardor then said "This is normally the bit were we go off stage and come back on stage but is it ok if we skip that b******* tonight crowd cheeres" and then they played "Devil is Fine" to be followed by "Baphomet" the audience started singing every word and dancing along to the beat.
The night was full of fun and the atmosphere drew you in and made you want to listen to another set. Zeal & Ardor put on an amazing show and I definitely recommend seeing them live.
